The Goodwood Health Summit brings together world-leading experts to debate topics and trends that can lead towards a healthier future for all.
2026's Goodwood Health Summit, presented by Randox Health explored one of the most overlooked influences on human health: the way we breathe. Emerging science is revealing links between breathing, the microbiome and whole-body wellbeing.
Bringing together leading perspectives from science, medicine and environmental health, the Summit examines how modern lifestyles are changing the way we breathe and what this means for the future of personal and public health.

World Class
The Goodwood Health Summit draws some of the most respected minds in science, medicine and nutrition onto one stage. Speakers are chosen for their expertise and their ability to push the conversation forward, not just informing, but challenging.

Featuring
Every Summit closes with an open panel, where our speakers field questions from the audience and beyond. It's where the sharpest exchanges happen, and where the day's ideas get properly scrutinised and tested.

Rethinking
From the true cost of poor nutrition to the link between what's in our soil and what ends up on our plates, the Health Summit tackles the food system questions that matter most, and aren't always easy to answer.

Wellness
The Summit sits within Goodwood's broader commitment to health and wellbeing, a programme that spans retreats, expert-led events and world-class facilities, all grounded in the belief that looking after yourself shouldn't be an afterthought.
Drawing on the groundbreaking research behind his bestselling book Breath, James Nestor explored what we are learning about the science of breathing and its impact on our health. From the effects of modern lifestyles, indoor environments and air quality to the emerging relationship between the respiratory system and our microbiome, the conversation discussed how the way we breathe and the air we breathe can shape our wellbeing. It also opened up wider questions around our environments, public health and what we can learn from the way the human body is designed to function.
Dr Louise Oliver and Mr James Kinross explored how breathing and respiratory health influence us across the life course, from early development and sleep to chronic illness and preventative health. Their conversation examined the relationship between the lung and gut microbiomes, the role of hormones and sleep-disordered breathing, and emerging research into the chemistry of breath and biomarkers. Bringing together clinical experience and research, they considered how our environment, what we consume and the treatments we receive can shape respiratory and gut health over time.
Dr Chris van Tulleken chaired discussions from all of the Summit speakers, alongside Stephanie Moore, Goodwood’s Clinical Gut Health Lead and Lauren Aiken, Head of Operations at Randox Health. Drawing on questions from the audience and online viewers, the panel brought together perspectives from across breathing, the microbiome and environmental health, exploring the connections between these systems and what they can teach us about our health and wellbeing.

We are delighted to present the Goodwood Health Summit, working towards a shared goal of improving gut health and highlighting the fundamental role the gut plays in our overall well-being.

Dr Chris van Tulleken chairs discussions with Dr Louise Oliver and Mr James Kinross as they explore the role of breathing across the life course, from sleep and early development to respiratory health, inflammation and chronic disease. They examine the relationship between the lungs and gut as interconnected ecosystems, and consider what this emerging understanding could mean for prevention and the way we approach health.

Previous Events
The fourth annual Goodwood Health Summit presented by Randox Health focussed on the intricate relationships between breathing and the microbiome highlighting how these two ecosystems influence each other and overall health. The Duchess of Richmond and Gordon, a long-standing and prominent health campaigner, invited four world-leading experts to address the Summit in three sessions hosted by infectious diseases doctor and broadcaster, Dr Chris van Tulleken.

Previous Events
Ahead of this year’s Health Summit, which focusses on the breathing and the microbiome, bestselling author of Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art, James Nestor, discusses the impact of breathing, the microbiome and why the environments we create may be changing our health.

When we think of health, we often picture our own bodies; what we eat, how we move, how we feel. But our personal wellbeing is inseparable from the health of the world around us. Soil, the most overlooked of ecosystems, is not only the foundation of our food system but also of our collective health system.

Fitness Tips
We’ve all heard the phrase “trust your gut,” but science now tells us that our gut is doing far more than helping us digest food. Deep inside us lives a vast community of microbes – bacteria, fungi, and even viruses - known as the gut microbiome. This hidden ecosystem influences everything from immunity and energy to mood and mental clarity.

Dirt is something we often take for granted, but in truth, the ground beneath our feet is one of the most powerful influences on our health, our food, and our future. Patrick Holden CBE, Founding Director and Chief Executive of the Sustainable Food Trust, has spent decades working to transform the way we grow, produce and consume food. Ahead of this year’s Goodwood Health Summit, presented by Randox Health, Patrick’s message is clear: soil health is public health.
